Ant Man?! Didn’t see that one coming!

Well…it looks like Ant Man is going to have his own movie.  Yes, there is an Ant Man movie scheduled for a 2010 release.  For those of you who don’t know, Ant man has the ability to shrink to the size of an ant and communicate with insects telepathically.  Yeah… Don’t get me wrong, in the comics I have read with him, he is a pretty cool character.  (he even almost beat the Hulk once…almost!)  I just have a hard time imagining him as a movie superhero.

Here is what wikipedia has to say:

Edgar Wright plans to direct an action-adventure film with comedic elements, insisting that Ant-Man would not be a spoof. The script has been written by Wright and Joe Cornish, who plan to include both Henry Pym and Scott Lang as major characters, with Pym as Ant-Man in the 60’s in Tales to Astonishstyle, and a flashforward to Lang as Ant-Man’s successor in contemporary times.

In February 2007, Wright said that the project was in “a holding pattern” while the script was revised, with casting yet to begin. The director reported that he would have news for the film in a few months. He has been researching nanotechnology for the film. As of March 2008, Wright told Empiremagazine that a second draft of the script is being written. Known for being a comedic writer, the director noted that the film would not be overtly comedic, but that it would be “more of a full-on action adventure sci-fi film but with a comedic element.”

“comedic element”… I am sure we will all be doing our fare share of laughing at this movie.  Who knows, this may turn out to be a great adition to the Marvel movie collection…I am just skeptical.  It seems to me that they would go with Giant Man, another one of Henry Pym’s superhero alter-egos. (He has quite a few)

Well, I will give you more info as it becomes available.  Until then, let’s just hope they don’t ruin it!

This kinda proves Hollywood is running out of ideas. But it’s a Marvel character,so it might be good.

    maybe.

I don’t think the problem is that Hollywood is running out of ideas, I think it is running out of good ideas. Maybe if they would focus less on making a ton of money and more on making good movies, there wouldn’t be a problem.

This actually looks kinda good to me, in that they’re doing it as a comedy. It sounds clever and orginial.
