Shrek – Past and Future

Ok, First of all, I want to know which Shrek Movie you think was the best and why.

In my opinion, the second one was the best.  It retained all the magic of the first film and expanded on it.  The storyline was deeper yet without losing what made the original so great.

Oh, and I have some info on the fourth one (from wikipedia)

Shrek Goes Fourth is currently in pre-production, aiming for release on May 21, 2010. Tim Sullivan will write the film, and Mike Mitchell is in talks to direct. The principal cast members will all reprise their roles. The plot has yet to be announced, but according to Dreamworks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg, “We will come back to understand how Shrek arrived in that swamp. We will reveal his story,” and Cameron Diaz has reportedly asked for the film to have an eco-friendly storyline about a threatened swamp. A deleted scene from Shrek the Third may be used, in which a talking tree explains that Artie is next in line for the Far Far Away throne. It has also been confirmed that Shrek will have a mid-life crisis. On 12 February 2008, Dreamworks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg announced that he would like this film to take on a darker theme and will feature Donkey’s evil twin as the primary villian. The theme song Te o Tsunago and the ending song Okaeri will be in this film.

Shrek Goes Fourth will be released in both 2-D and IMAX 3-D, as DreamWorks Animation is planning on releasing all their films in 3-D starting in 2009. Katzenberg has confirmed, however, that the film’s “primary” release will be in 3-D.

All I have to say on this is: Why?! An Eco-Friendly Swamp in Danger?! Darker Story?! Donkey’s Evil Twin?! Mid-Life Crisis?!?!?! What kinda piece of trash are they planning?!!! And that is not all! There is also a puss in boots spin-off on the was as well as a proposed fifth film! Dreamworks is gonna milk the Shrek franchise for all its worth…and destroy it in the process. Argh!

I also want to know what you think about these new ones.

Yeah the first 3 were awesome. I hope the 4th one stays true to the Shrek theme

Shrek is going to be one of those series thats gets beaten to a bloody pulp before the producers diside to let it go.

I think it is almost there already. The 3rd one was good in itself…but it did not fit in with the series to me. It had lost something…a big disappointment.

I kinda liked the 3rd, didn’t really like the story. I like the idea for the 4th.

I loved the first three, but the storyline for the fourth seems weird. Why the heck are they making a Puss spin-off? If there was a spin-off, it would have to be about Donkey.

Oh well, IU would see the fourth and fifth ones. I will skip the Puss movie though.
