So Far With…The PS3

Yup, my brother recived a ps3 this year for christmas!  Its shiney…so far it has been an enjoyable experience.  I figured I would share my thoughts so far on the console and our games.

The PS3 Itself

So far, I have not messed with the system much.  It needed a lot of updated, which it to be expected.  Also, I tried going to the Playstation store to get some DLC for Batman….yeah, that was a nightmare. Aparently, you have to have an account…and boy does it take a long time to set up one of those.  Lucily the DLC was worth it.

The interface looks all nice and shiney…I have not bothered downloading any themes yet.  (acually, I tried to download a Vader one…but it was not free 😦 )  I have, however, changed the background color to blue…I think it looks quite nice…has an ocean feel to it now.

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Wow…this game is epic.  I feel like Batman.  In this game, you can do everything that batman can do…you can beat bad guys sensless in hand to hand combat, or be stealthy and pick them off.  (I prefer stealth)  You can do detective work and solve the Riddler’s clues.  You can even play as Joker and fight Gotham’s finest thanks to the DLC I finnaly managed to get!  Best super hero game ever!

My second favroite of the PS3 games, Infamous is about Cole, an inncocent  bike messenger turned super-hero in a post-apocoliptic city.  He has to fight crime while choosing to be good or evil.  I have chosen the path of light…though I did punch that old lady…but it was an accident!  I hit the wrong button, I swear!

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows

I have not played this one much, but I like what I have seen so far.  This seems much more complex than the previous spider-man games Treyarch has made.  I am having trouble getting used to the controls, but I expect this shall be a wothy addition to the other great Spidey games that have happened recently.  (and I am not counting friend or foe)

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2

Yeah…uh, I have not played this one enough to form an opinion…uh, get back to you later on this game….

District 9 (4/5)

Well, I finnally got around to seeing this sci-fi treasure.  District 9 takes place 20 years after aliens land on earth, just over Johannesburg, South Africa.  With no way to get back to their planet, the aliens are forced to live on earth as second class citizens in a slum called District 9.  The humans, fed up with the aliens, decide to move them to a reserve.  Wikus van de Merwe is in charge of evicting the aliens, until he finds out too much and comes in contact with a bizzare alien technology.  Now, he has to fight for his life.

From its documentary style to its epic action and effects, this film is a great sci-fi experience.  The acting is spot-on, and the plot will leave you wanting more. The only bad thing I can say about the film is that it drops the F-Bomb…a lot…I mean, a lot…like every other word.  However, if you can see past that, you will find a truly great story.

If you like sci-fi, and if you like action, then this is a great film and I would reccomend it.

I got an Ocarina for Christmas!!!!  I look forward to learning how to play, as I slowly drive my family crazy with the practicing.  I posted a me playing the first few notes of joy to the world.  Its not long, because I can’t play it that well yet.  Anyways, I hope you have a merry christmas!

I Love the Virtual Console

My brother and I recently got some spending money and decided to blow some of it on virtual console games.  I downloaded Super Metroid (SNES) and Legend of Zelda (NES).  My brother chose Paper Mario (N64), and Super Mario RPG (SNES).  Sure, we could have used emulators to play these games over our computer, but nothing beats the feeling of sitting in front of a TV, controler in hand, playing good old games.

I love old games…
