Percy Jackson & Olympians: The Lightning Thief (4/5)

Usually, when you go into a movie, you have some idea of what to expect.  However, I had no clue what I was in for when I went to see Percy Jackson last week.  In fact, I was not even sure what it was about.

Turns out it is about a kid who finds out his dad is Posiden, and then finds out he has been accused of stealing Zeus’s lightning.  He goes on an adventure to free his mom from Hades (who has kidnapped her and wants the lighting as ransom) and clear his name.  In his quest he is aided by Annabeth, daughter of Athena and Grover, the satyr (a goat/human hybrid).

The plot is pretty straightforward, but fun.  They go from place to place meeting mythological creatures and adventuring.  It is a surprising funny film (with Grover providing comedic relief)  The plot is not very complex and the “surprise twist” is kinda predictable, but the film was not meant to be deep, it was meant to be fun.  And it is fun.

I would definitely recommend you see this film, it makes for an entertaining two hours.
