Fantastic Four Reboot?!

Last night, Earl told me that he heard that Fox is planning a Fantastic Four reboot. After searching for it on my own, I was able to find some unconfirmed rumors about it. Apparently, Fox wants to scrap the entire cast from the previous two films and start the series over like they did with The Incredible Hulk. Now, with Hulk this was a good idea, but I liked the first two Fantastic Four movies. They do not need to get a reboot.

They way I see it, if the original one was so bad, then why did it get a sequel? Sure, it has its critics, but it is not bad enough to warrant a reboot. This new one will supposedly take a darker tone; it is being compared to Iron Man and The Dark Knight. That is the problem, ever since TDK, dark comic book movies have become a fad. There is nothing wrong with some of them being dark. Batman should be dark, but the Fantastic Four?! I know they have their dark moments, but I don’t think of them as particularly dark comic.

I sincerely hope this rumor is false, because I think it will ruin the series, but what do you think?

Google Chrome

Well, it is official, Google has unleashed an internet browser.  Google Chrome is supposed to be much faster than IE, Safari, or Firefox.  The interface looks nice.  There are some concerns, however about the new browsers security.  Also, it sends information of everything you do to Google.  (though you can allegedly turn that off)

The million dolllar question is “will this browser will become a real threat to IE?”  Personally, I doubt that anything will ever become a big threat to IE.  (many people use it because it comes installed on their PC and they don’t know or care that there is an alternative.)

I may try this (though I doubt I will keep it)  For now I am still using Google, but as soon as Adsense for games starts, I am boycotting Google.  So there is not much sense for me to start using a Google browser when I fear I may soon be boycotting it.

So far, it is only available for  Windows.  (A Mac and Linux version are on the way)

…and yes, people are already finding easter eggs.

But what do you think?  Do you think that Chrome will become a real threat to IE?

Support Our Troops

As the election draws nearer I hear more and more people talking about pulling the U.S. out of the war. Most people I have encountered feel it should be our nation’s number one priority. While I agree that we should pull out as soon as possible, that is probably not for the best right now.

I believe that it is our responsibility as one of the strongest nations in the world to help less fortunate countries. In the years since the conflict began, we have made much progress. We have taken out Saddam Hussein and set up a democracy. But above all, we are helping rebuild the lives of the citizens of Iraq. Women in Iraq are finally able to get an education. (Which is a monumental victory in itself) The terrorists, while still a problem, are dwindling in numbers. Life is very slowly improving for the citizens of Iraq, it seems like the perfect time to leave…but its not.

If we left now, anarchy would ensure. We cannot start a job and leave with it only half complete. The terrorist groups would grow larger and before long, it would be as bad as than before the war started. Even worse, the terrorists would hold an even bigger grudge towards Americans. To leave while there is still any terror in Iraq would be irresponsible. It is understandable that we would want our troops back, many of them have died, but they knew the risks when they joined the army.  The soldiers who gave their lives in Iraq are heroes and if we pull out now, they will have died for nothing.

A reporter from the New York Times recently asked a man living in Iraq how long it would take to slip back into chaos if the army left. His reply was “One day.”

Do you RP?

Ok, so I have been thinking about starting a online RP.  (role play if you don’t know)  I would like to know if anyone would be interested in joining?  Do you have any experience in online RPs?  Would you like to learn?  And do you have any ideas for a story?

I think this could be a fun idea.

Oh, and here is a vid of a messenger RP called, Friends List of the Ring.  (it is funny)

Shrek – Past and Future

Ok, First of all, I want to know which Shrek Movie you think was the best and why.

In my opinion, the second one was the best.  It retained all the magic of the first film and expanded on it.  The storyline was deeper yet without losing what made the original so great.

Oh, and I have some info on the fourth one (from wikipedia)

Shrek Goes Fourth is currently in pre-production, aiming for release on May 21, 2010. Tim Sullivan will write the film, and Mike Mitchell is in talks to direct. The principal cast members will all reprise their roles. The plot has yet to be announced, but according to Dreamworks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg, “We will come back to understand how Shrek arrived in that swamp. We will reveal his story,” and Cameron Diaz has reportedly asked for the film to have an eco-friendly storyline about a threatened swamp. A deleted scene from Shrek the Third may be used, in which a talking tree explains that Artie is next in line for the Far Far Away throne. It has also been confirmed that Shrek will have a mid-life crisis. On 12 February 2008, Dreamworks co-founder Jeffrey Katzenberg announced that he would like this film to take on a darker theme and will feature Donkey’s evil twin as the primary villian. The theme song Te o Tsunago and the ending song Okaeri will be in this film.

Shrek Goes Fourth will be released in both 2-D and IMAX 3-D, as DreamWorks Animation is planning on releasing all their films in 3-D starting in 2009. Katzenberg has confirmed, however, that the film’s “primary” release will be in 3-D.

All I have to say on this is: Why?! An Eco-Friendly Swamp in Danger?! Darker Story?! Donkey’s Evil Twin?! Mid-Life Crisis?!?!?! What kinda piece of trash are they planning?!!! And that is not all! There is also a puss in boots spin-off on the was as well as a proposed fifth film! Dreamworks is gonna milk the Shrek franchise for all its worth…and destroy it in the process. Argh!

I also want to know what you think about these new ones.

What has the world come to?

Argh!  At the GTAIV midnight launch, there were muggings and a stabbing in an attempt to get the game.  This world is sick.  It is just a game.  Gamers have been saying that all this anti-game hysteria is crazy, but there is truth behind it.  Games like GTA, Bully, Manhunt and others like them give games (and the gamers who play them) a bad name.  The gaming industry needs to wake up and realize that this is wrong.  Not just morally but it is logically stupid too.  Think about it!  It is these kind of games that are gonna give the anti-game maniacs out there more power.  Before you know it we will be living in a country where games are banned.  I know it sounds improbable but it is possible and it is growing more possible every time another one of these games are released.  It makes me sick to see that not only are these “games” being allowed on the shelfs but they are wildly popular.  I don’t see how anyone who plays these can call himself/herself a real gamer.

These kind of games do nothing but make the world worse.

This is why people don’t take gamers seriously!  It is because of these people who think that knowing how to use a controller and leaving ignorant comments on gamespot.  Video Games used to be a sacred sport until games like these were released and then the trash that call them selfs gamers appeared.

I mean it is like: “guns don’t kill people, people kill people” but that does not mean that guns should be available to phyco’s!  A midnight release of GTA is like handing out beers at an AA meeting!  Sure the video games like GTA don’t kill people, the people who play them do.  (and the game does not exactly help)

It almost makes me ashamed to be a gamer.

Athletes, Not Heroes (Revised Edition)

[Ok, some of you did not respond so well to the last version.  I am not taking it down, but I have written a revised version.  For those of you who do not know, I am the editor of my school paper.  I had been planning on putting “Athletes, Not Heroes” in the school paper.  I however, am now changing the article so that it would be less offencive.  I am doing this for two reasons.  1) This new article is more neautral and I think that I get the point across clearer.  2) I don’t wanna get beat up!  I am also closing comments for the original post. If you have something to say, say it here.]

So, what do teachers, garbage men, and plumbers have in common?  Give up?  They are all needed for our society to function properly.  Think about it!  Without teachers, nobody would be educated.  That may not sound too important now, but just try to imagine life without being able to read.  (It would make text-messaging kind of hard!)  Without garbage men, what would we do with our trash?  Last but not least, imagine a world without plumbers. (Do I really need to go into anymore detail?)

Oh, there is one other thing that they have in common.  They all make less money than professional athletes.  Does this strike anyone but me as odd?  These people work hard to contribute to society and make next to nothing.  Meanwhile, a bunch of self-obsessed steroid addicts make millions for running after a ball like a little dog.  It seems kind of backwards, right?

Sure, athletes help the world in many ways.  They entertain us and, at times, they inspire us, but does that really justify the obscenely large amount of payment they receive?  All of the people listed in the first paragraph are heroes.  Yes, I said heroes!  Anyone who would willingly go into a line of work that involves toilets, garbage, or teenagers deserves a medal.  However athletes, for the most part, are not heroes.  Yet, they get the praise, and treatment, of royalty.  Why is this?

Why is it that athletes tend to dominate every aspect of life?  From the movies to school everything in our society seems to revolve around sports, even Thanksgiving Day is a big day for football!  The worst part is, this obsession with sports only fuels the common belief that brawn rules over brain.  People tend to get into the mindset that you don’t need to be smart in order to succeed; you only need to be stronger than the other guy.  It is this way of thinking that causes people to forget the passion of knowledge that brought our society to where it is today.  Putting athletic programs in schools does nothing but make the situation worse.  Sure, being part of a sports team requires that you keep your grades up, but it does not take much effort to cheat or to memorize the notes instead of learning the subject.  School is a place for education, not athletics.

The bottom line is, our society places way too much emphasis on the importance of athletes.  We need to realize that, although they entertain us, athletes are no better than you or me.  They don’t help the world near as much as the real heroes of our country.  So, you have to ask yourself  “Does it really make sense that people who contribute nothing to our world are rich, yet the people who work had to make civilized life possible get no recognition?”
